What is
the latest version of HardKey
EG/Pro software?
The latest English version is
1.1.05.
Is
it possible to decode a file which
is encrypted on another PC?
Yes, but the encrypted file only
can be decoded with the HardKey/EG
Pro which is used to encrypt the
file.
Is
it possible to create duplicate
keys?
Yes. By using the same “User Name”,
“Email” and “Password” during
the key generation, the keys will
be exactly the same. But this
should only be done with administrative
caution to ensure security strength.
Is
it possible to recreate a HardKey
when it is lost?
Yes. There are two ways to recreate
a key. One is to use the same
“User Name”, “Email” and “Password”
when creating a key with the HardKey
Key Generation Wizard. The other
is to restore a key using the
backup file which you kept in
a safe place away from computer
when you generated the key for
the first time.
What
can I do if my HardKey does not
allow me to encrypt/decrypt files
due to key corruption?
Normally the corrupted key can
be recovered by recreating the
key using the “HardKey Generation
Wizard” accessible from right-clicking
HardKey icon on system tray >
choose “Settings” > click “Generate
Key” on Key Manager screen, but
if the key cannot be recovered,
the hardware key may be broken.
Please use another HardKey to
create the duplicate.
How
can I set the access rights for
an encrypted file?
If the file was encrypted using
“Encrypt by HardKey/EG Pro” from
the right-click menu, the file
access rights can be set by selecting
the “HardKey/EG Pro” tab when
viewing the file properties. The
person who originally encrypted
the file has the privilege of
selecting each user’s access rights
as “Full Access”, “Read-Only”,
“Delete”, etc. Access rights can
be added for up to 16 users for
each encrypted file. If you wish
to transfer an encrypted file
over a Network or email, use “NetKey”
to encrypt the file. NetKey also
allows you to choose which HardKey
users you want to share the encrypted
file with, provided you have imported
the recipient's public key. The
limitation of the number of users
giving the access rights using
NetKey is depending on the capacity
of your hard disk size.
Is
there any restriction for setting
the user access rights for an
encrypted file?
Yes, the access rights can only
be set by the owner of the file.
(HardKey user who originally encrypts
the file)
I
forgot the information which I
used for the key generation. Is
there any way to analyse the information
from my HardKey?
No, there is no way to analyse
the key information. The information
which you used for the key generation
is very important. Please write
the information down when creating
a HardKey, and keep it in a safe
place away from the computer.
Do not let anyone know your password;
otherwise they can create a duplicate
of your HardKey.
If
someone has stolen my HardKey,
can he or she know my HardKey
information?
No, he or she has no way knowing
the key information if the password
was not stolen with it.
My
HardKey sometimes does not allow
me to encrypt a file. Is there
any reason why I have this problem?
Here are some possible
reasons:
The file
might already be opened and in
use on the PC
The file might be already encrypted
Your HardKey might not be plugged
into the USB port
Your Hard Disk capacity might
not be enough
The file might be corrupted
The file might be a “Wind
